Fernando Valverde was born in Granada (Spain) in 1980. He is one of the most awarded and recognized voices of the new Spanish poetry.
Among his poetry books are included Favorable wind, Dawns or Reasons to flee from a cold city (Visor Publishing House).
With his latest book, The eyes of the pelican, he won the prestigious Emilio Alarcos Prize from the Principality of Asturias and became the first author under thirty years of age with two publications in Visor Publishing House.
Among the awards he has received are included the Federico García Lorca Prize for Spanish University students, the Fray Luis de León Prize and the Juan Ramón Jiménez Prize.
He is one of the authors of Poetry in the face of Uncertainty (Visor Publishing House, 2011). His poems have been published in countries like Spain, Mexico, Italy, Colombia, Argentina, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Peru, Costa Rica or Chile. He has been translated into numerous languages.
Doctor's Degree in Spanish Philology and Romance Philology Bachelor of Arts, he works as a cultural journalist for the newspaper El País and manages the International Poetry Festival in Granada, which has invited more than three hundred writers like Derek Walcott, Herta Muller, Wole Soyinka and Mario Vargas Llosa.
